One-Name Study

A "one-name study," in British English, is genealogical research dedicated to finding and documenting every person with a single surname who has ever lived, throughout the world. These studies are also interested in variant spellings of that surname. In American English, these groups are often called "family organizations" or "family associations." Many of these groups are now using DNA tests to learn more about the origin(s) of their surname.
