La Société Guernesiaise
The Family History Section of La Société Guernesiaise is the Family History Society for the Channel Island of Guernsey.
They have now indexed all the 19th century censuses for the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm - from 1841 to 1891. These indexes are available for consultation in their Search Room at the Lukis Observatory in Guernsey, and at the Priaulx Library - Guernsey.
They have also completed a range of indexes to Guernsey's parish registers.
They also have an ongoing programme of documenting Memorial Inscriptions from the islands' cemeteries.
They publish a Journal twice a year. Members also receive a copy of the annual Transactions of La Société Guernesiaise, which is Guernsey's leading journal for articles on the island's history, nature and wildlife.
They organise regular meetings in the island, and local members will also carry out research on behalf of overseas members in return for a contribution to society funds.
